Today I built the scenery wall between 2 sections and visited a local lumber yard and bought $600 worth of plywood, homosote and 1x4s. It will be delivered Tuesday and then finally full on building will begin. I'm hoping this initial purchase is about 80% of the total lumber cost. It got me 20 4x8 sheets of plywood, 15 4x8 sheets of homosote and a small mountain of 2x3x8s. Staying away from Home Depot and going with a local provider that has free delivery made a huge difference in cost. HD easily wanted twice the price and won't deliver!

Things are on hold for now.....

Furnace is being replaced and layout is sectioned off with plastic dust covers.

3 walls of come down in the Furnace area.   The oil tank is going out and the new furnace is gas.    Also the new furnace is 1/2 the size as the old one.   We're also getting the old water heater out and going tankless.    The new tankless is tiny!    I'm gaining 8x15 feet of space for the trains mostly due to the Oil tank, but also due to the water heater and moving the furnace back a few feet!   WOOT!

And......    I'm heading to China for a month.    So progress will be slow.    When we get back I need to build (frame and dry wall) new walls and a door for the furnace/water heater area.   After that I can resume layout construction.
