I agree Spence. I'll be 73 next month and in the process of building my LAST layout. How it's going to be dissembled is the last thing on my mind. That's a job left for my kids and grandkids .
Maybe they can sell the house - TRAIN ROOM INCLUDED.
I'm only 60, but one never knows if I will become disabled or pass early. As I am planning this layout, removal without me around is on my mind. Maybe I should take tat approach and let the kids worry about it, but I am concerned it would be a thorn in my wife's side as her health isn't the best.

thanks guys. altoona puts out a nice kit. goes together well. it may take me longer to paint the detail parts than it did to build the shop! thanks again.
holiday weekend update: i have been working on a new project. installing DCC in my glacier park models 2-6-6-2t. i decided on a tsunami2 module. i still have a few things to add and then touchup with respect to weathering but it is 90% done. here are a couple pics as well as a link to a short, quick, video on my youtube channel.

thanks dave. it was imported by glacier park models (jimmy booth - also of PBL) a couple years ago now. i have seen them on a few brass sites for sale.

Here is the GN N3 back together. A few detail pieces need to be re-attached as a 30 year solder joint(s) just would not stand up to all the handling of the model. Still a few tweaks to do with the sound settings but it is about 90% there. Nice project and I really enjoy bringing the 30 year old brass model "back to life" so to speak. Thanks for all the comments.

Hey all, i have been busy installing DCC in a few more engines. the latest is a PSC CB&Q Hudson, but also started to play with DCC and Wifi. Found a somewhat new product from digitrax and the WiThrottle app for my apple devices and now i can run the layout with up to 4 wifi enabled devices. Short video here. Took 5 minutes to install and get working.

Great model. I saw this locomotive several times at Snoqualmie, before they sold her to the Black Hills Central.
I've been to her old Stomping grounds at Longview on countless occasions, but sadly they're not running anything there anymore. 108 used to be on display there for a few years before being donated to Snoqualmie's 'locomotive graveyard':
Zak - just curious what motor did you install in the NP Z-3. Was the current draw low enough to use a 2 amp TSU2200, or did you have to go with a 4 amp (stall current) TSU4400 decoder? The railroad looks great. I'll be sure not to miss your future posts.
thanks ed... if i recall it was from northwest shortline. 40611 part number (they source from another company) my layout is small so all my engines pull very short trains. so i run well under 1A. stall under 2A in most cases... so some of the 2A version of tsunami 2 were ok for my application. i do have some of the 4 amp version in engines as well as a few econami 4A versions i received for christmas gifts last year.
P51: it is actually a molded plastic tarp covering the barrels. it was included with the vehicle, i just weathered and roughed it up to form to the barrels a bit more. then flat finished it. still could use some work but the effect is nice for now. the vehicle was a christmas gift from die cast direct site a few years ago. thanks for looking and the comments!!!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I just received the BLI O scale water tank. I spent a few hours re-painting, adding some extra details and then weathering the unit. Here is a short video of it. Very nice piece for the price and great sounds with the ability to change the volume (nice touch) so it does not overpower the layout or the room itself!

I agree, the water tank is really cool. Just enough action, and the sounds are great! I would think there would be scale water coming out of the spout! Scale water? There is a novel idea.
