This is my layout. All Realtrax, all MTH lockons. Running it on 1 TIU. The straight line is a bump and go trolley (length and position tbd). The trolley and figure 8 are going to be conventional on variable voltage channels. The raised oval and outer loop DCS locos. So I have 4 channels and 4 loops.

1) On the figure 8, is there an benefit to locking on to the inside of 1 loop and the outside of the other?

2) 4 channels, 4 loops... Do I need/want to join the common grounds, across loops?

3) I am using a terminal strip for the large loop with the siding. In regards to the last question, If I'm joining the grounds, should I just run them all to the terminal strip?
