Would someone please tell me if there are any Local Hobby Shops in the Albany NY area? I will be visiting there in the very near future

Mohawk Valley hobbies has a fair amount of o gauge 3 rail and 2 rail stuff It’s about 15 min from Albany
There also is a store in Amsterdam NY about 45 min from Albany, but not far from the CSX Mohawk sub.

Delaware trains is a little shop on Delaware Avenue in Albany NY.
JP Hobbies is a train shop in Latham, NY (Albany suburb).
They were primarily HO and N when I frequented the place, but they have expanded their line of Lionel since I visited them regularly.

Now that I'm back on the grid, let me say thanks for all the suggestions. I had a limited amount of time, so I picked Mohawk Valley Railroad Co. in Schenectady as they were very close to my route. When I walked into the well stocked shop, I was very pleasantly surprised to be greeted by none other than Jim Policastro! Jim, as many of you know, has been a prolific article contributor to OGR over the years. Jim showed me the store's layout and introduced me to the store's friendly snow white cats: Hudson and Dela (short for Delaware). Gee, I wonder how they picked those names.... So my short, 10 minute visit turned into 45 minutes of stories and fun. I walked out with a car under my arm and my wallet just slightly lighter. All in all, a wonderful experience! Thanks, Jim!

It was great meeting you the other day at Mohawk Valley. It was really good timing that we ran into each other since I don't get over there very much anymore.
I'm glad you enjoyed the shop. Bob Smith, the owner, has done a great job of keeping the store stock interesting, even in the slower summer months.
I'll be looking forward to seeing your article in an upcoming issue of OGR.
Also - as always, the cats enjoyed the extra attention they got during your visit!
