Lionchief plus volume

One more thing: It still chuffs and I can hear the whistle and bell, but those sounds are all weak. The clickity clack sound of the train running down the track (that any train makes) pretty much drowns out the chuffing sound. The chuffing button underneath is in the “on” position.

I’m stumped.

Sometimes when something like this happens, I feel like maybe I imagined those sounds were louder than they really were, and I think I’m losing my mind. LOL

Thanks, I’ll try that. Do I also simultaneously hold down the whistle and bell buttons?

It worked! I only did what you said: held down the announcement button and turned throttle to right. Hallelujah!

   I believe you have an early model LC because of the way the control engineering works, glad you got the volume control you needed.

I think it is the other way around.  The older LC+ locomotives use the bell and whistle button method, and the new (with Bluetooth) use the Announcement button method.

You are welcome.  Somewhere on this forum buried in another post Dave Olsen from Lionel admitted that some of the manuals included in recent items had incorrect information (your’s being an example), and pledged that they would have to a better job.  If I recall correctly, Dave also mentioned that he would be one that would be proofing the manuals.

I will mention again, that including the model #(ex: 6-99999) when asking for help will get you better responses.

Yep the early LC+ used the two button method.  The new ones use the single announcement button only.  Erics Trains did a video on a Bluetooth LC+ and showed it.   Very cool and much easier to do!

I think this may be a function of the remote, not specific to any particular LC+ engines. I have several older LC+ engines that require the "Bell and Whistle button method" to adjust the Sound Volume using the original remotes that came with each engine.  When I use the Orange Universal Remote with the same engines, it uses the "Announcement button method" to adjust the Sound Volume.

Very helpful info, Bruce, thanks so much. I love my new Lionchief plus NY Central Pacific. It’s my Blue Comet.

Good catch PRR Bruce!  I haven’t tried to adjust the volume with my Universal Remote as I had set the sound at the level I wanted before it arrived.  Just tried it and it works just like you say.
