I got this Lionel 127 station a couple of years ago and thought that it would be nice to make it better than it was.
Never thought that this station had this many parts. It was missing two flat bottom chimney’s, so I purchased repro chimney’s. The reproduction flat bottom chimney’s do not have the same dimensions as the opening in the roof. I had to file the quarterly roof opening so they will fit. In doing this the opening should be larger so when the chimney’s and roof are painted the will fit. This worked out OK but should f filed more. Also when re- assembling the side of the station the upper tabs broke off. I was not bending the tabs but doing the slight twit thing. I was going to glue the sides together but what I did was drilled and tapped the upper sides with a 172 tap and used a screw. What I should of done (which I did before) is to de temper the tabs/ area with a torch and let the cool slowly. This makes it so yu could twist them without a problem. Since this is a re paint, I used the colors I had and added a couple of touched to make it unique.
