One base works with numerous remotes. If you have any kids or friends that like to run trains then you can run multiple locos. Secondly, I'm sure the remotes will be harder to come by over time as well, never hurts to have a spare.
What needs to be done to run a TMCC engine with a MTH TIU and handheld? I have a 6-12911 that I never used, but no Cab 1 controller. Is the wire that MTH sells used to connect the TIU to the 6-12911 command base or does it connect to the Cab1 controller?
I have that set up right now Dave. The wire runs from the TIU to the TMCC box, and then you run the single wire from the TMCC to the track. It works great! The MTH Remote then controls the TMCC box just like a CAB1 would.
Thanks for the quick reply, Tackindy. This 6-12911 has two wire lug outputs on it. Does it matter which one I use and which rail does the wire get hooked to?
