Thanks for the link !
Well I have to say it was a rush... for about 3 seconds! ...
Winners in my book: Aha! another SP daylight paint scheme on a cab forward!!! LOL!!!
Ok ... I am game! NICE!
Nice SD -40's! I am drawn to the Western Maryland... and I don't even model the WM.
SOLD! on the UP Theater car.
And WOW!! Love this set!!!
Sold on more brown box cars!
And these are sold too! Weaver cars look great Lionel!
May even pick up a caboose or too...
Not into O27... but Me Likey, Likey!
And these buildings are true winners! Love the Row houses resurrected from Weaver.
Great new water tower tooling top there Lionel....
Now the Bad and the Ugly....
Somehow these light Mikado's just don't look right? your feelings?
Hmm all new How? same as the ESE released last year? confused here...
Just my opinion, but really ? GN would have been so much cooler... or the NP... ARGH!
90.00 for a flat car?! WHAAAAAT?
800.00 for ... ugh ... never mind... (but you get the ringing bell)
Again... hey Lionel - how about Android users?!
Nice hoppers but do they really go with the shay?
I thought these would be better fit for the shay.... these look fun...
Just my thoughts... I am only one wallet...
What is "Lionscale", true O scale or 027 scale?
Thanks for an easy download.

Lionscale is the old Weaver molds...
They are true 1:48 scale
Lionel gets a A++ for effort. More Weaver stuff, 'normal' box cars, Shays and those cool disconnects. But I don't NEED any of them at the price offered. I'd like about 3 locos and tons of cars.....but can't justify......
I do like the new structure offerings......wait and see if the decent price on the large brick buildings will be worth it. The ex-Weaver row house is way too costly.
Thank you --- quick and easy
Some cool stuff
E8s in the catalog but no Southern? There's a great prototype just up the road Lionel
Catalog is hoo hum. The only thing I liked in there is the logging add ons. There is 4 pieces made up of one truck each and they look pretty cool.
Other then that a big nothing for me. Too expensive and what gets me is they come out with road names for engines, example of Reading & Northern but then there is no rolling stock, maybe a caboose but that's it?. Whats up with that?
Also I see the same beer cars from last year where is the Ol Mil car, Black Label, Miller Lite, from the earlier series?
Seems like something is happening there at Lionel?
MARTY E. I think your on to something.

The 587 Mikado is probably my favorite of the lot. And Big Jim - that's the tender 587 did have. It'll likely look better in its production form.
But I'm happy to see the 726 Berkshires and the postwar sized ALCO FA in the LC+ line. Plus that archives ALCO FA passenger set - definitely a pleasant surprise. The LC+ SD60M are also a great idea that I'm glad to see come.
2400 Series cars in green with matching ALCo FA's!

Thanks for your irate feedback... not talking about the tender anyway... looks like the trailing truck is upside down?
JDaddy: I agree, the Mikado as depicted just does not do it for me and especially at that price point. I am complete with the cab 1 PRR steamers (M1a, Atlantic, Consolidation, Decapod, K4s, and B6s) that I have and are much more interesting to me. I would like the PRR Mikado loco with a belpair fire box if I needed one. BTW, is this the same K-line version with Legacy?
As far the rest of the catalog, well I always enjoy eye candy but I am fine with what I have.
Thanks for the Link. It popped right up.
Green Alcos, something they should have done 65 years ago.
Ugh, enough with putting daylight colors on everything. I though the daylight AC12's were ugly, these daylight AC9's are even worse.
When I heard there were Light Mikes, Shays, and S2s in the catalog, I was excited, until I saw the prices. And what is so different from these light Mikes from the last ones Lionel did? The older ones were O36, but these are O54? If they were O36 I would bite, but at that price and min curve I think I'm going to pass, besides there isn't an ATSF one. As for the Shays, too rich for me, even though I really want one, and again the O54 kills me. Guess I'll wait until they do the O36 2 truck shay again (But by then it'll probably be $2850.). So I'll probably only order the S2.
And my biggest gripe, why don't they do all those LC+ locomotives in Legacy?!? I'd buy the heck out of them if they added $200 to the price and put Legacy in them. Hey Lionel, there is those of us that love Legacy and want the small non-scale locomotives!!!!
WHOA LionChief iOS app! That's so awesome! Too bad only for 2017 and later locomotives.
The CSX Intermodel set looks nice, but for $459 why not just include LionChief Plus?
Why don't all the Mikado's have Bluetooth? That's so odd. So now I have to choose between Bluetooth and the road name I want. In fact, a bunch of the steamers and diesels don't have Bluetooth. So now I'm confused.
Still the ONLY LCP locomotive with Conrail paint is a rectifier. Come on, give us one in a GP38!
No new LCP diesel locomotives either. I was hoping for a SD40-2 or the like.
Nothing is jumping out at me to pre-order yet.
That NKP tender looks like it belongs behind a Berk.....not a USRA Light Mikado. It doesn't look right or attractive at all, IMHO. Put it next to the Heavy Mikado and it will look even more out place, I opine.....regardless of the Excursion Tender.
Of course, none of us know what will ACTUALLY be produced. If they can mess up the UP 838, they can certainly mess up an NKP Tender.

Too bad they have been downgraded with can motors and rubber tires instead of a powerful Pullmor and track-gripping Magne-Traction... If I wanted tin can motors, I'd buy Williams. You can't beat the growl of an open frame AC motor. If I buy these Alco's, I'm going to gut them and put a real motor in there.
The Theater Cars have been a long missing model. Love that the Norfolk Southern Buena Vista NS 29 is included here.
But where are the companion 21" NS office cars? Unlike the Conrail and CSX presented here and UP last catalog, the NS aren't shown here or in previous catalogs. Is this just a taste for the Fall?

I STAND CORRECTED! They've got a LC+ SD60M in Conrail livery! PRE-ORDERED!!!

I'm assuming that these USRA Light Mikados are the old K-Line tooling. If so, these price points are simply OUTRAGEOUS. K-Line absorbed the design costs. Lionel has already issued one round of these Light Mikes (without using correct headlight placement that K-Line already had.) Almost all of their R&D and design costs should have been recovered already. Other than adding Whistle Steam and possibly a better speaker in the Tender, the prices on these should be DECREASING.
Well, someone has to pay the Managing and Limited Partners of the Private Equity Firm...........
I might be interested in one of the SP AC9 articulateds, however I would like to know in advance if Lionel will have the CORRECT SP freight whistle in the Legacy sound set, as compared to the whistle that Lionel used back when those AC9 models first came out.
My observations:
Southern SD40 3170 - both Atlas and Lionel have announced this locomotive. I know Atlas has the older Railsounds, but at least they offer more road numbers (and non powered units). I remember seeing the CSX version running back in the 80s - 90s.
2400 Series Passenger Cars - Must have for my collection!
ACL E8s - nice, but I have the MTH units already. Surprised no matching 21 inch passenger cars (hopefully they will make without the purple stripes down the side).
Freight Cars - like some, but they are skirting awfully close to the $100 price per car (might be in another 2-3 years). Glad there is a healthy secondary market.

That's because it came from a Berk, just as the real one did.

What does your gut tell you on the matter? Problem is that you can't assume anything until you actually hear and see these. Could be absolutely fantastic. Could be a total bummer.

At least they haven't painted the Shay's in Daylight...
Yet...

Happy with the LionChief Plus ALCo's and the Berks! That Nickle Plate LionChief Plus looks nice...

Why does the description in the paragraph indicate that they are being produced as they were during the period when they were converted to oil burners but all the images appear to have coal tenders?

I get that....but if you're going to issue a group of USRA Light Mikes, why not issue the USRA tender to match? I'm pretty sure that every other Light Mike that Lionel (and K-Line) produced came with the USRA tender....so why deviate now?
Disclaimer: this is mere personal preference on my part. I have a TMCC and a Legacy NKP Berk....and love both of them. But I'd like some variety....and some smaller steam engines compared to my Berks and growing 4-8-4 roster.
I'm not saying the tender is wrong. I'm just asking...."Why?"

The main reason why is most people remember the 587 from its years in excursion service, and they remember it most with the big Berkshire tender - myself included. That's why Lionel has modeled engines like the 765 and the 4501 in paint schemes its going to be most known for - the 765 being in its somewhat recent light gray smokebox and the 4501 in its famous green paint AND the bigger 2-10-2 type tender.
I think it is time to sell one of my big UP TMCC locomotives and get that LC+ UP SD60M!
Two things caught my eye, the USRA Mike's appear to be road specific which the previous run was not. The NYC ESE cars likely have different names/numbers. Good if you want to add cars to your existing train. The cars are a maybe for me. The Mike's are not worth 4 times what I paid for my K-Line one.

Well THAT should be VERY INTERESTING! Especially since they stated in a previous catalog that they would be offering other road numbers of the Union Pacific FEF-3 4-8-4s with the CORRECT Sellers Exhaust Steam Injector feed water system, and we all know what happened when the models were actually delivered.

It says that the Lionel model depicts the engines from 1939 (when they were built) to 1952 (when they were converted to oil). Confused me for a minute too, but it means the Lionel model will have coal, not oil.
Thanks. Might have been more clear if they inserted the word "before" they were converted to coal.
