Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2 Locomotive No. 247 Traction Tires

Do the Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2 Locomotives (No. 247) use traction tires? I do not believe that they did. If so, what size? If not, better to add anyway? It is not a strong locomotive and after years of use the wheels are pretty slick. Has anybody done any significant work on these. The wheels slip and as noted in a different post the smoke unit needs to be replaced. They were supposed to have weights, but I do not not where and how many.
