Lionel CW-80 Transformer....Removed orange throttle handle ...now not working

I assume you were not getting power before you removed the orange handle.

There is an internal fuse that may have blown and can be replaced (note that the unit is not meant to be consumer repairable) with a common auto fuse of the same rating and, yes, you will need a triangular screwdriver - either purchased (harbor freight makes a set) or handmade (you can grind a Phillips down).

There are a few threads on this Forum that deal with this issue, so a search will also help.

If the transformer was working properly before you removed the handle, I guess we'd need to know why you removed it.

Thanks for getting back to me. I was trying to adjust the voltage of the fixed accessory post as per the manual. I was not successful adjusting the accessory voltage and the track voltage stopped working when using the orange throttle. The green light still lights therefore I don't think the fuse is the problem (although not sure about that either). I think I might have applied to much pressure on the internal mechanism that the throttle handle is attached to when pulling it off. Maybe something separated? I ordered a set of triangle drivers TR27 to help me remove the cover. Maybe then I can see if I damaged anything.

If the track output stopped working before you pulled the handle off then, even if you can repair the handle (my recollection is that there's a potentiometer inside that you may be able to replace), you're still going to have to figure out and correct whatever was wrong in the first place.

The board chip, itself, is not repairable. You may be able to find a replacement chip, but the chip programming is proprietary to Lionel.
