Buried in another thread, Charlie from Nassau Hobby Center mentioned that Lionel is going to announce a new product line at York.  Although I'd imagine that info is going to be available at the York Meet in the Lionel booth on Thursday, if I was a betting man I'd predict that Lionel is actually going to make the announcement at the TCA Museum on Wednesday.

So, to be the first to hear this announcement, you'd be wise to visit the TCA's National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg PA.  Come see if Lionel makes the unveiling there.

Legacy plus so they can remake everything over again and charge more!

o wait there doing that.

That's a given... That someday they'll have Legacy Plus.  But they don't seem to need that to remake stuff and charge crazy prices.

Then again, perhaps they'll surprise us all and announce their entry into model race car sets like they had back in the mid-1960's.  Those seem to be appearing in hobby shops again!  And with the boys in NC and their NASCAR connections, it wouldn't be that far-fetched.

I hope it is train related announcement. There are still so many things that have not been made in three rail. With Lionel already into NASCAR maybe a line of 1/48 autos and trucks would be nice. Especially vehicles from the forties, fifties and maybe the sixties.............Paul

Yeah they were supposed to do automobiles a few years ago when the scale auto racks came out but nothing ever came out. Maybe they are trying their hand in Slot Cars again.....

Per Rusty Traque, "Not the last time.  Lionel's last entry into HO  was rather successful but it came at the time when Lionel and MTH were in court and Jerry pulled the plug on HO to save money."

Now how would you know that? Lionel is a privately held company. If HO were profitable, one would think Lionel would be in HO. My advice to Lionel is "stick to your knitting, boys. Concentrate in improving quality before the products reach the customers.

BTW, where is Jerry?

A Lionel Legacy "HUFF and PUFF" train set

Hey, I had one of those!  I'm sure the "eyes" did not survive all these years, even if the train itself is still in OK condition at my parent's house somewhere.

Also had his cousin Gravel Gus for playing in the sandbox. (I suspect Gravel Gus was Lionel as it had a similar look to Huff n Puff , though I am not 100% certain)

Here is the real scoop, hot off the wires:  "LionScale," a new series with:

.  Diecast trucks and couplers

. Easily converted to 2-rail (with separate sale components)

. Prototypically accurate paint schemes & multiple road names

INITIAL OFFERINGS:

3 Bay 9 Panel Hoppers   WM, Chessie, SOU, Alaska

Modern Boxcars    Railbox, BNSF, CSX, NS

3 Bay Offset Hoppers   B&M, AT&SF, B&O, C&O

PS2 CD Covered Hoppers   Klemme Coop, D&RGW, Milw Rd., RFMX EX- PC

That is what the dealer flyer out yesterday says/shows.

Uh, except for the "easily converted" bit, assuming that is true or true-er, I fail to see anything new in the above "flyer". Lionel already offers all these products, by type, quality level and/or general category, if not by particular road names and/or particular cars.

I see no "new product line" specs here, but I'm sure that the details will clear this up.
