I would guess 2 Rail, but I can see a possible venture into HO to compete with MTH and Atlas...

Vision Line Plus...live steam with miniature engineers that operate the loco for you. However, they will be your employee, so you'll have to take care of payroll tax, healthcare, comp, etc.

I hope it is train related announcement. There are still so many things that have not been made in three rail. With Lionel already into NASCAR maybe a line of 1/48 autos and trucks would be nice. Especially vehicles from the forties, fifties and maybe the sixties.............Paul

Na, it's going to be Lionel branded wooden trains to go with all the Thomas and BRIO stuff.  But they will be Legacy controlled!

I hope it's not something along the lines of that horribly flimsy and cheap looking mega tracks.  However, I'm encouraged by the fact that they're announcing at an important toy train show.

Every time Lionel's tried to compete in the HO Market, it's failed.

That's a given... That someday they'll have Legacy Plus.  But they don't seem to need that to remake stuff and charge crazy prices.  

Then again, perhaps they'll surprise us all and announce their entry into model race car sets like they had back in the mid-1960's.  Those seem to be appearing in hobby shops again!  And with the boys in NC and their NASCAR connections, it wouldn't be that far-fetched.

Train drones. remote control trains that turn into drones so you can buzz the neighbors pets.

What can it be....An  App to run train at home from your office...I buy that. The boss wont mind if I let him play with it.

Whatever it is it will be overpriced and work out of the box about 50% of the time.

Yeah they were supposed to do automobiles a few years ago when the scale auto racks came out but nothing ever came out. Maybe they are trying their hand in Slot Cars again.....

Now how would you know that? Lionel is a privately held company. If HO were profitable, one would think Lionel would be in HO. My advice to Lionel is "stick to your knitting, boys. Concentrate in improving quality before the products reach the customers.

Hopefully Lionel has better luck finding an Asian manufacturer to do this than MTH with their Scaletrax #4/#6 switches.    Or better yet, just build the whole product line here in the USA.

Digital, trackless slot cars in O scale?  I'd guess not at York, although it would be fun to see.

My guess is a line of consumer (non-race car) diecast automobiles and trucks in O gauge.  Perhaps with a track system similar to what K-Line used to market.

I am inclined to say that they are going to either go into the HO market again, or else 2 rail scale. They already are part way there on the 2 rail, and no doubt they could buy one of the smaller manufacturers, or else contract out Ho work

Isn't MTH into the European Market? Maybe Lionel is going there too.

Hey, I had one of those!  I'm sure the "eyes" did not survive all these years, even if the train itself is still in OK condition at my parent's house somewhere.

Also had his cousin Gravel Gus for playing in the sandbox. (I suspect Gravel Gus was Lionel as it had a similar look to Huff n Puff , though I am not 100% certain)

About 5-6 years ago, Lionel's chief technology officer, Jon, forgot his last name, said that command control streets vehicles were coming. Since Lionel sold Streets to Bachmann, I don't know what to say, but it would be awesome.

That is what the dealer flyer out yesterday says/shows.

Uh, except for the "easily converted" bit, assuming that is true or true-er, I fail to see anything new in the above "flyer". Lionel already offers all these products, by type, quality level and/or general category, if not by particular road names and/or particular cars.

I see no "new product line" specs here, but I'm sure that the details will clear this up.
