D500 posted:Uh, except for the "easily converted" bit, assuming that is true or true-er, I fail to see anything new in the above "flyer". Lionel already offers all these products, by type, quality level and/or general category, if not by particular road names and/or particular cars.
I see no "new product line" specs here, but I'm sure that the details will clear this up.
One would hope so. The flyer is very sketchy (I quoted it verbatim).
Fishing reels, they do it nice because they do it twice!
They are going to be the one offering Williams products!
But Weaver did offer 2 rail stuff. Lionel AF has 2R TMCC/L.
hmm NASCAR 2 !
Star Wars Licensing
MagneTraction, no more traction tires. And real steel rails on real wood ties on real rock roadbed.
It's definitely the Weaver models. I am interested to see how Lionel handles the fragile stirrup steps found on the corners of each freight car. While the hopper cars were thick and strong plastic, the boxcars and acf 4 bay covered hoppers were not.
I find it interesting that most of the above posts are attempts at making fun of Lionel before Lionel has a chance to make any
further announcements. Maybe some of you will attend the announcement.
Hot Water posted:The former Weaver "made in U.S.A." line of scale cars, I'll bet.
And maybe still "made in the USA" ?
This is exciting news even if the news turns out to be something non scale or non train related like slot cars. My guess is that PRRHORSESHOECURVE is correct and it is the line of Weaver tooling Lionel acquired. I sincerely doubt that it would be some sort of a 2-Rail line and while part of me would love to see that happen my wallet much prefers that Lionel keep moving along the same way they have been.
If anyone can please refresh my memory, did they (Lionel) acquire the entire line of the US production? Did Atlas O get some? Anyone know who got the Roadrailer tooling?
Bill
I believe the way it worked out Lionel got the dies from the US and Atlas got the dies from Asia. Also I think the dies for the die cast trucks are still available..............Paul

Technically the word would be "tooling", and not necessarily "dies". You are essentially correct though, except that MTH had been providing the Weaver die cast freight car trucks, in both 3-Rail and 2-Rail, for a few years, thus one would assume that MTH still owns THAT tooling.
Just announced:
Turbo-Legacy Software that can run DCS!
(Oh, well - - - nothing wrong with dreaming.)

Unfortunately, that is just a dream since MTH does not release the code.
Just a outside-the-box suggestion for fun: With Walter retiring at RMT, perhaps LionChief-RMT? The LionChief RC electronics in the RMT locos. Low cost and very reliable so they don't have the problems with returns and quality.
Unlikely.
How about battery-operated LionChief to operate on 3 or 2 rails, O-27 or wider curves.
My "source"tells me a lot of the old Weaver tooling will be offered as easy to build "kits" as well as RTR to lower the cost.

O-Line Reproductions makes the former RMT line now...
Rusty
Or an "Order 19" line to compete with Menard's.
When will the new Product Line be officially presented?
They're the Weaver cars I expect, Lionel got the rights to many of those.
I wonder if "LionScale" means they're somewhere close to scale, but no guarantee?
Dave Warburton posted:Here is the real scoop, hot off the wires: "LionScale," a new series with:
. Diecast trucks and couplers
. Easily converted to 2-rail (with separate sale components)
. Prototypically accurate paint schemes & multiple road names
INITIAL OFFERINGS:
3 Bay 9 Panel Hoppers WM, Chessie, SOU, Alaska
Modern Boxcars Railbox, BNSF, CSX, NS
3 Bay Offset Hoppers B&M, AT&SF, B&O, C&O
PS2 CD Covered Hoppers Klemme Coop, D&RGW, Milw Rd., RFMX EX- PC
That is what the dealer flyer out yesterday says/shows.
If this is a joke you and I are going to have words... I hope you're right.
Any word from the TCA museum presentations today?
Since those railroad cars are Weaver's old tooling then they're full scale. LionScale probably designates a lower-priced item, just like Trainman is to Atlas.
I'm definitely in the market for more coal hoppers.
Sounds interesting! I could get into some of that. Any word on pricing?
Oh well, no "Tin Plate"?
And when will these be available to order?
12 road numbers on the c&o, 6 road numbers on all the rest.
Will have separate coupler from trucks. Also will have lionel scale looking trucks, simplified, but where appropriate, will have totating bearing caps.
Will be an order flyer out soon.
The ex penn central car will have patches, and sounds interesting!

I quoted this verbatim directly from the flyer that Lionel sent my LHS on Monday.
And, also, it says "Made in America" on the flyer, as well. I see that this question has come up on the thread.
There are also a couple of pictures of some empty rooms or under-construction rooms plus an exterior shot of a large officebuilding with the Lionel logo on the door.
I have no idea what these pictures represent as there is no text to tell me. Strange.
Ryan Kunkle did the Lionel presentation today at the TCA Museum and Library in Strasburg. He said the carbodies will be made in Pennsylvania and painted and decorated by Lionel employees in North Carolina. He also mentioned that Lionel wants to keep these cars at an attractive price point. No plans yet for manufacturing the diesel locos that Lionel acquired from Weaver.
Any mention of minimum curve for 3-rail? If the oversize couplers are not truck mounted then I expect it is at least O-54 or O-72.
One word. YES!
This is good news. I hope the die-cast trucks and couplers are available separately, I need a bunch for several Weaver cars I have.
Wonder if the former Weaver Milwaukee Road rib-sided boxcars will be included in this line. Those cars were also made in U.S.A. by Weaver.
Or the B&O wagontop?
Dominic Mazoch posted:Or the B&O wagontop?
Atlas will be bringing those hopefully as they now own the tooling.
The LionScale product line is fantastic news! I wish Lionel the best!

Swafford
