Uh, except for the "easily converted" bit, assuming that is true or true-er, I fail to see anything new in the above "flyer". Lionel already offers all these products, by type, quality level and/or general category, if not by particular road names and/or particular cars.

I see no "new product line" specs here, but I'm sure that the details will clear this up.

One would hope so. The flyer is very sketchy (I quoted it verbatim).

This is exciting news even if the news turns out to be something non scale or non train related like slot cars. My guess is that PRRHORSESHOECURVE is correct and it is the line of Weaver tooling Lionel acquired. I sincerely doubt that it would be some sort of a 2-Rail line and while part of me would love to see that happen my wallet much prefers that Lionel keep moving along the same way they have been.

I believe the way it worked out Lionel got the dies from the US and Atlas got the dies from Asia. Also I think the dies for the die cast trucks are still available..............Paul

Technically the word would be "tooling", and not necessarily "dies". You are essentially correct though, except that MTH had been providing the Weaver die cast freight car trucks, in both 3-Rail and 2-Rail, for a few years, thus one would assume that MTH still owns THAT tooling.

Just a outside-the-box suggestion for fun: With Walter retiring at RMT, perhaps LionChief-RMT?   The LionChief RC electronics in the RMT locos.  Low cost and very reliable so they don't have the problems with returns and quality.

Unlikely.

How about battery-operated LionChief to operate on 3 or 2 rails, O-27 or wider curves.

O-Line Reproductions makes the former RMT line now...

I quoted this verbatim directly from the flyer that Lionel sent my LHS on Monday.

And, also, it says "Made in America" on the flyer, as well. I see that this question has come up on the thread.

There are also a couple of pictures of some empty rooms or under-construction rooms plus an exterior shot of a large officebuilding with the Lionel logo on the door.

I have no idea what these pictures represent as there is no text to tell me. Strange.

Ryan Kunkle did the Lionel presentation today at the TCA Museum and Library in Strasburg.  He said the carbodies will be made in Pennsylvania and painted  and decorated by Lionel employees in North Carolina.   He also mentioned that Lionel wants to keep these cars at an attractive price point.  No plans yet for manufacturing the diesel locos that Lionel acquired from Weaver.
