Gentlemen,

Today on the front porch I received my new Menards US Army Tank Car.  For those of you wanting an exact replica, this is not it.  However this is a great US Army flatbed with a boys toy, that fires the lazer cannon and 30 cal machine guns when you push one of the entrance man hole covers, lazer lights blinking and all.  The What Kind of Tank card that comes with the rolling stock tells the story as to what this Tank Car is all about.  I took a picture of it with the tank for all to read.  This will be a geat part of my child like wonder land Christmas layouts.  I may have to order a couple more.

Rusty Traque,

I have seen the other post, I wanted everyone to see the explanation card that comes with the tank car, and some of the experimental tanks at Ft Hood in the 2nd Armor Division were not to much different than this one, made as a childrens toy.  I actually like the flatbed and the M2B2 tank!  As Brian said the kids will love it, and Dad will be able to afford a couple of new tank cars for the military play train.

I am greatful to the other posts so that I knew that the flatbed tank car was available.

I also ordered some of these flats with Tank loads from Menards. You would think I had enough trains at the store! These cars are very nice at a good price point. I did have some issues, I ordered 12 cars and 5 of the 12 were broken. I could not find a customer service number for Menards on line site and I found out that they do not have a phone number for customer service. I had to go to the guest services link on there site and fill out a generic form with my info. One day later they replied with a return FedX label for the return of the cars and they asked me to order the replacements and they would credit me back the money when they receive the bad ones back. I give them a D- for their customer service. Our store would not be in business very long with this type of customer service.

Thanks

Gentlemen,

Thanks for all the nice comments and the (Likes), for sure this is a child wonderland type piece of rolling stock, which fits perfectly into my layouts.

Patrick,

Even though my tank car was packed more than well, my tank car was slightly damaged in shipment also, one of the stop blocks against the tank track came off

the flat car.  This was a very miner thing and I repaired it with super glue.  Can not understand why MENARDS operates wihout a customer service contact number however.  I do like this particular piece of rolling stock and will probably order at least 2 more of these flat cars for my SF train, with the Chicago south side made 534 M2B2 Tank.

Alan,

For me its all about the play value and the memories, that spurred my Engineering & legal careers, some how my Grandfather & Father realized what I now know, that these O Guage trains are about a lot more than counting rivets or layout realism, there about little boys & girls dreams of building and operating what is in those dreams.  Which in my case turned into a NASA Engineering Career.  Grandpa what is an Ogive?  Not many men know the answer to that question, let alone putting the answer into wording a 5 year old can fully understand, and then draw.  O Guage Railroading, a hobby like no other.  Responsible for many Chief Engineers Careers, including mine.

Thanks everyone for participating in the thread.
