A few folks asked for the track plan of Mickey's layout.  Mickey hand drew the plan a couple of days ago and asked me if I would post it.  I have done so in a post below dated today 12-4....Thanks!   Alan

Hey Guys...

My friend and next door neighbor Mickey Selligman is working on his 2-rail O-scale layout and I have been fortunate to be able to help him.  Most recently we have been installing a Millhouse transfer table and completed that project a few weeks ago.  Now we are working on the major scenic elements and so I thought I would share some pictures with you all for your enjoyment.  Please note that we are far from getting the details where they need to be as can be seen in several of the pictures.  The city streets need to be painted and detailed since right now they are white foamcore....and the list goes on.  BUT...Mickey and I are having a blast working on his "Interstate Railroad".  The city is named after his son thus it is called "Glendale".  Hope you all enjoy the pictures and I am sure Mickey will appreciate your comments and encouragement!

Thanks!

Alan

Two amazing layouts right next door to each other and in a small town. That would be great and to also be friends would be even better. You are both very lucky. Did you two plan this before moving there? We live in an area of about 2.5 million and I can't even find an O gauge train club in town. At least we do have a LHS (actually even better, it's a train store) that has O gauge trains to be thankful for. Next you will probably tell me you have three O gauge only train stores in your area.

rtr12....thanks!  Actually we have quite a few model railroaders around here!  We have at least three more O-gauge/scale folks with layouts and I will be sharing some pictures I took recently at one of them.  I'll do so over on the 3-rail forum since the pictures are from a 3-rail layout...but...it is done to a very high level of detail.

We live in Mountain Home Arkansas which is primarily a retirement community and thus we have folks from all over the country that have come here.  Many of them were model railroaders before they moved here.  There is a local club that when first formed, had around 50 plus folks that showed up for the first meeting!!

Unfortunately, we don't have any train stores in the area...we do have a large Hobby Lobby so that helps as far as supplies locally.  But in today's world with the internet, the large list of OGR advertisers and sponsors fills my needs completely!

Mickey and I have known one another for over 30 years and our being neighbors was more or less planned...an interesting story but for another thread at another time.

The retirement community explains a lot. I didn't know that was a retirement community. That's great you have so many model railroaders there. It's also great to have friends long term like that and especially to have the same interests like O gauge trains. I wish I could find an O gauge club around here, all we seem to have is HO & N or G size (garden), train store owner doesn't even know of one. Sounds like the only thing you all are missing is a nice train store (maybe someone should open one?). Of course with everyone retired and having been model railroaders for many years, they probably already have a lot of stuff and the store may not do real well? Still it would be nice if you had a place to go to look at the new offerings as they become available. Sounds like you all are having plenty of fun anyway though. Will be watching for your other layout posts.

Nice thought, but I have lived here all my life and family is here, grandkids etc. My wife's family is also here. We just moved last year to a home requiring less maintenance and I vowed at that time, never again! Not sure I could survive moving one more time. I have been to Fort Smith, it seemed like a nice place. Very neat drive between Rogers and Fort Smith, pretty country down there.
