Good morning, good morning!  Welcome to Wednesday and the Midweek Photo thread.  Once again, we gather around our computer screens to share some of our real-life experiences in the railroad world.  I don't have much to offer that is new.  But the Railfest at Steamtown will give me plenty to share for the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of Steamtown:

I don't often get this angle, but this is a view of the Scranton Limited taken from Bridge 60 tower.  The steamer is chugging eastward toward the train station and the University of Scranton before the return to the roundhouse.

I caught this view of the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad's business car no. 2, sitting by the Electric City Trolley Museum.  Smoke in the background is from the return of Baldwin 26 on the Scranton Limited.

Steamtown's excursion returns from Moscow, running between the old Railway Express Agency building to the left and the DL&W Mattes St. tower.

No. 405 is a C420 with heritage from the Lehigh Valley Railroad.  She wears a metal flag on her short hood that pays tribute to the LV.

That is my contribution for the week.  Thank you all for your help in keeping this thread so interesting.  See you next week.

There is a steam operation on the west side of my state that has garnered some fame over the years.  There's also one on the east side, but very few people know it.  Not many people living around here even know it.  It's the little 0-6-0 that runs around Prairie Village, a remnant of the CM&StP when they stubbed the line off at Madison, SD.  It generally runs on special occasions, and last weekend was one of those--the annual Prairie Village Jamboree.  It's basically a tractor show/threshing bee that attracts a lot of people.  I was there with my Nikon and a Chamonix 4x5 with vintage lenses, as usual.  This year they had something special-- their little 0-4-0T was up and running, pulling a single excursion car!  It's back from repair out of state.  It was running very nicely!  Anyway, a few shots.  (Don't have the 4x5 black & white shots back yet.)

A few pictures and a video from my vacation in Peru this past June.

Peru and Summer 468

A pair of PeruRail employees watch passengers detain from a morning train to Aguas Calientes (below Machu Picchu) next to one of the railroad's DMUs.

Peru and Summer 632

EMD GR12 510 waits on the mainline while pedestrians walk across a bridge.

Peru and Summer 634

Another shot of the GR12.

Peru and Summer 642

Night photo looking down on the passenger cars at Aguas Calientes station.

Peru and Summer 652

Another DMU, this one owned by Inca Rail.

Peru and Summer 655

Morning sun on the peeks above the train station.

Peru and Summer 664

Alco DL535 487 pulls a morning train into Aguas Calientes. The locomotive would runaround the train to be serviced, and then put back on the head end for the rest of the journey to the end of the line at the trailhead to Machu Picchu.

Peru and Summer 679

High-hooded Alco 482 pulls another train in.

Peru and Summer 707

A shot of the cars that the railroad uses for local residents. They appear to lack the air conditioning and accoutrements of the tourist coaches. The two local trains tended to draw an EMD GR12 as their power.
