Here's a video of a SW8 pulling a train through Killbridge Junction. I made sure it had the transfer caboose on the rear for you, Jim!

I am certainly no expert, although a big Milwaukee fan. My two books on their freight cars show both black trucks and maroon trucks. I have no history right off hand as to why they painted both ways. I think the maroon trucks do look good on models as well as the real cars.
Here's some Penn Central action to kick off Midwest Monday this week:

Can you tell me who made the reefer ?
Thanks

Ray;
As I said, I don’t have a lot of Midwest cars on my roster, but the Milwaukee car was just too beautiful to pass up. It is an MTH Railking Milwaukee Road 50’ Double Door Boxcar, number 30-71055.

Paul,
Thanks for the info, it is a beautiful car, something I thought we may use as a fest car.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive, Jim!

Tom - looks like the real thing, you keep finding new and interesting perspectives. As always, love the caboose.
Detroit Edison Coal Porters - Lionel most recently and MTH have produced nice coal porters. I thought it might be interesting to look at the two side by side. I have both Lionel runs and the earlier MTH but don't have the later (2004) 20-97145 Nos. 990033,990038. If anyone has those and wants to let them go, message me.
The Lionel and MTH visually match up perfectly (size) and the graphics are slightly different which is nice. Running a unit train with some difference is nicer then one where the cars are totally identical. Now all I need is a run of DE U30s or SD40s. I know lionel is doing the SW - Lionel car had the coal load (greyish)
AC&Y passing through Killbridge:
Have a great week!

Every once in a while one of these would come on the market but since the start of my hunt several years ago, I either lost out or the units were trash. MTH built these beautiful Scale Railking units in 2013/2014. Powered #642 Non-Powered #648. FINALLY I found this excellent+++ Non-powered unit, so totally excited. Still on the search for a powered unit in good shape. In my train youth, early 1970s in Detroit the passenger trains that came into Michigan Central Station either behind these units in phase I paint, E8s in Phase I or ex PC E8s in some stage of retrograde. I loved seeing these units back in the day and am so happy to have captured 50% of the pair. Good MwM to you all, Jim
I know this will shock everyone that frequents this group but I broke down and purchased both DT&I flats with Stroh's trailers produced as a special run by Jeff the owner of The Train Loft in Winston Salem, NC.
Seriously Jeff and MTH did an AMAZING job on these. While I'm not sure Stroh's ever had these trailers on flat cars, I'm pretty sure at one point they had their vehicles painted pretty close to this. For sure the party store delivery trucks in the 1970s/80s. I would love to see any picture of a Stroh's trailer on a flat car, probably more similar the Atlas Stroh's trailers that came out a few years ago. It was great to get to know Jeff better he is a super guy. In addition to finding out he grew up in Toledo he shared that he is thinking about doing a Gobel Beer tofc. Another Detroit fallen flag brewery. If you like this, he may have a few left and if you speak with him put in a plug for Gobel. Additionally, first time I have noticed MTH has put a knob on to adjust the height of the trailer stand. You don't notice it unless you look for it.
A little late this week but better late than ever. A pair of extremely well built Lionel 2031 Rock Island Alco FA units circa 1952-1954 hauling a freight on the Shenandoah Short Line. The motors in these post-war early Alcos were some of the best Lionel ever manufactured.
Good, Late, Tax Day, MwM to you All.
I guess an old video is better than no video. A dizzying train meet one might have seen in South Detroit (Windsor ON) in the early 1970's. For those of you fortunate to be going to York this week, enjoy and have fun!!! Jim
