River City 3 Railers had a great time at the Great Big Greenhouse last night. Santa was there, and as always the small modular layout was a hit with the kids!
The modular looks good! Looks like some kids had fun, including the big one wearing the bow tie!

When I saw the expression on the little boy, however, I immediately thought: "that's the look". I see it at every one of my club's open houses. It's the reason we open our doors to the public. Priceless!

When Weaver closed, JohnB made me an incredible offer on a 2-8-0 Consolidation. After a trip to the "Walt" backshop, it made it's debut this weekend at the SMV. It is now cab #917 in honor of the sole survivor in its class (one of the lost engines of Roanoke).
I must admit that TMCC locomotives do run better with Legacy.

Looks like a great time was had by all! What a terrific venue for a train show! I remember being in that building 25 years ago or more. They just don't build them like that any more.

Big day yesterday......about 500 people came through....lots of families with kids.....many 1st times were delighted that we'll be there till January 16th.....

Very nice work. Glad to see you had railings on the platform, too many of our workers have suffered injuries while tending to the layout chores without following posted safety procedures!

The beer train made an appearance. The UP #80 is a great puller, once you get the ornery thing going!
52 cars on this shot. The Atlas and a case of the MTH Premier cars were left at home. I just didn't feel like messing with them.

Updating with some photos now that we have completed our 2015 exhibition season which started in August and ended in mid-January.
1st is an overhead shot of the set up as it currently is.....approximately 21X34. These were taken by Tom (Gilly&N&W) from the 2nd level of the Science Museum of Virginia.
Also, you can see our "small portable" 6X11 layout which we take to smaller venues.

Now.....we'll be building and upgrading till August....along with a few exhibits with our small layout....I suspect, we may be 10' longer by October......

Well done! I like the idea of smaller layouts for smaller venues. You are showing how O Gauge is still fun in a smaller space.
The on the floor trains are a nice touch; keeps everyone involved.

In a very surprising development, it was announced yesterday that Maxwell D. Dogg, (River City 3 Railers official mascot) will be attending Law School next year.
Accompanying him will be Peter's son, to keep Max supplied in Kibbles and to keep him company . While club members were well aware of Max's Engineering talents, his desire to challenge the bar came as a total surprise. Should he choose to become a Prosecutor, we fully expect for him to take a bite out of crime. We wish Maxie well in becoming the first ever Jurist-Canine.
