Yes, it should come with Proto-Couplers.

Have an Army Genset. Has proto couplers. Had to fix both pilots. almost everything fell off. Not that I'll ever use it but FYI smoke don't work well.
thank you. but is it worth it. $$$$? what was wrong with the pilots
all the lift rings fell off along with the paint on the coupler bar.
I like mth because it's more bang for your buck!!! but if you can afford it, the lionel version of this item is the better choice.

I have the Lionel Vision Line model, the detailing is far better, and the individual operation of the three smoke units with matching sound is a great effect!
I have both the MTH and Lionel in UP livery. Be advised that the Lionel version has fixed pilots, so 0-72 is required. MTH you can run on 0-36 as it has truck mounted couplers.
I have both Lionel and MTH in NS. Both very nice!

Not according to Lionel.
Place your locomotive on Lionel or Lionel-compatible O-42 (O-54 recommended) track.
It has no problem dragging cars through the O54 switches on our modular layout, don't know about O42.
