The instructions state to delete previous versions. I have my MTH Remote backed up with 38 engines, 36 switches, 17 accessories, etc. saved. If I delete the previous versions of the MTH Loader program, won't I loose all of that saved information and have to re-program my remotes again which will take hours? Tried calling MTH for an answer but no success as of now. Thanks for any help!

His setup is a lot more involved with DCS than my experience, so I referred him to the experts here.
The question came up as to whether the backups are stored as separate files that can be copied to a flash drive and moved from computer to computer. But I have yet to perform a backup of any of my remotes so I don't have an answer to that one.

The loader program exists only on your computer. Deleting it and installing the latest version has nothing at all to do with the contents or remotes or TIUs.
If, you're thinking of the effect of loading the new code onto the remote & TIU, the answer is no, upgrading the TIU & remote to 5.0 does not affect what you have stored, unless you're upgrading from version 2.##. I have 4 remotes, with 26 locos and only 26 switches in the AIU, and have upgraded many times without loss
In any event, prudence & wisdom dictate that the contents of your remote be backed up to a computer, so that in the event of a need to reset the remote, or some other catastrophe, you needn't reenter the data. The Loader program, including the pre-5.0 version, has that backup/restore capability. If you have multiple remotes, it's the way to go to have all remotes identical.
Yes I have saved my information onto a laptop but I was concerned that if I un-install the loader program (V2.3) and something happens during the upgrade to 5.0, would I lose everything and not be able to upload it from my laptop since I deleted it? I called MTH and the woman who answer technical support first before transferring the calls said "yes" but she has only been there a short time. Of course she said to call tomorrow between 12 and 5. I'm only concerned because of the time it would take to re-enter all of the information that I have backed up, which I'm sure you can appreciate. Thanks!

If there is backup data already on the computer, will that persist through the uninstall of the previous loader/install of the newer loader, or does it need to be moved elsewhere to preserve it while the loader is swapped out?

No, you absolutely will not lose any data, either in the remote or in any backup (clone) files that you previously saved.
This is my first day on this forum and I thank everyone for their help and advice!
Railride, Barry is absolutely correct. The loader program saves the data in a separate text (.txt) file in the computer, in a directory of your choosing. My personal preference is to keep those text files, and for that matter all sound files and remote and tiu code files, in a directory outside of the Programs directory wherein the Loader resides.
Are the TIU and Remote softwares included in the Version 5 Consumer Loader contrarily to previous versions in which they were separated softwares?
No, they are not. They are separate on the website just as before.
