Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the MTH Long Island MU set cataloged in 2013 with PS 3 a would be the MU same cars I road on the S.I.R.T. growing up in Staten Island? I am thinking of purchasing the set ... I don't think MTH will ever produce an S.I.R.T set.

No, those MP54 MU's were riding on flat bed semi's over to the scrap yard in Jersey in the early 70's. Often seen on the SI Expressway.
SI did test some hand me down 70' LIRR MP72's as the MTA was taking over and waiting on the new R42's.
MTH SIRT project was put on hold and bumped by the R1's years ago due to the poor economy. I believe it was someone else who wanted their subway agenda accomplished first.
That was a big sales mistake.

Thanks for the reply...So can you elaborate on the MTH SIRT project...were they going to catalogue them? Will they in the future you think?
