When I build lash-ups I notice that when I adjust the volume on a MU only the lead locomotive changes. This is true with PS2 3 volt or PS3. Using the remote keypad buttons 2and 5 is this normal with 5.0 ?

I didn't notice that? I have had some weird results with MUs so I'm not surprised. These results can be all over the map from lighting and sounds, to running.
I hope DCS 6.0 is much better! 
That sounds correct I think. Seems like all the options are turned off in helper engines but not the lead engine. After creating the lash up you have to access all the others individually (except the lead engine) to change any of their settings. I would have to find this in Barry's book to be certain, but I think that is pretty close.

That's correct.
When did they change that ? Seems kinda silly to make a MU then anytime you want to adjust sound level you have to address each unit.
