My latest scratch-bash

This is a 1/48 scale model based upon the 3M Mining Museum Building in Two Harbors MN. It's what I call a scratch-bash. I used the same side wall which contains only 1 window on each floor from each of 4 IHC Victorian Homes of Yesterday kits. The walls were cut apart in 4 horizontal strips and rearranged to provide the proper vertical spacing below the windows, between the floors and below the roof line. The 2 left upper and lower windows were what had to be rearranged to create the proper vertical spacing. I added all the other windows and doors. I fabricated the cornice from about 8 pieces of Evergreen styrene strips. I created the set back entryway by reversing the clear plastic glazing for the kit's original bay window and using it as the backing for the door and side panels.

A beautiful model of a modest but elegant structure that I would be proud to have on my layout. The cornice and your workmanship are great, and the model is a faithful reproduction of the original.

Thanks for the kind words, MELGAR.

The large single and side by side double hung windows came from the kit. I made the frames for the large front window and the front doorway. The smaller double hung windows on the right side along with the doors came from my scrap box of leftover kit parts. However, I did create the small cornice above those two windows and doors.
