National Train Show 2014 on July 18, 19 and 20 in Cleveland

I'll be there.

This should be a great show for us, and am certainly looking forward to it.

I will be one of the guys running a railroad West of Chicago. 

Care to take a guess as to which one? 

I will give shinny new nickle to the first person to get it right. 

I won't be able to make the train show at the event, but will be in Cleveland for the other convention activities on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Very much looking forward to it!  I have never been to an NMRA National Convention that I didn't thoroughly enjoy (which is a major reason why I became a Life Member many years ago).

I'll try.  Let's see, "west of Chicago", and then add "shinny". How about,,,,,,,,The California Zephyr?

Looking forward to tomorrow.   Leaving early in the morning for the NMRA Convention and taking delivery of my beautiful red Corvette convertible.  

Should be a banner day!  

I seem to have missed THAT part of the travel arrangements, concerning the Corvette.

Gee, that is too bad.  I clearly remember saying that if you wanted a ride to the NMRA Convention that I would take you and all you had to do was put your Vette in my garage.

You said that sounds like a good deal and I agreed.  Now I am not a lawyer and I never played on on TV but it seems to me that we clearly have a "verbal contract".  We all know that in this state a verbal contract is not worth the paper it is written on.  Therefore, I did not get it writting as I did not want to spoil our deal.

I am sure that we have a few forum members that are lawyers and I will ask then to offer a pro-bono opinion on our situation.

Golly it couldn't be the Super Chief......

You are RIGHT, it couldn't be the Super Chief because... the Super Chief is NOT a railroad.  

Therefore, the offer continues.  

I think I got it with the last hint, the Sante Fe.

Gee, I hope I am correct.

Technically (hair-splitting department), the Santa Fe was not a railroad; it was the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railway.

Then why was there a huge sign on the top of the Railway Exchange Building in Chicago that showed "Santa Fe"?  Also, why did all their diesel units show "Santa Fe" on both sides?

If you attend the Cleveland convention, be sure to visit my good friend, Jim Berilla, at his TRADING POST TRAIN SHOP.

It's located on Pearl Road (one of Cleveland's main arteries leading south out of Cleveland.) Take Carnegie Ave.-Lorain Ave. across a big bridge over the Cuyahoga River west out of  downtown to  W. 25th Street (stop at Cleveland's famous West Side Market there for some great ethnic eats -- trust me on this), and then proceed south on W. 25th St. which turns into Pearl Road when you cross I-71.

From there, the Trading Post is not even 10 minutes. It is a great old train shop in the style of Hobby House, Madison Hardware and others from the 1950s. It dates from that year, in fact.

Lots of new and old Lionel (he specializes in O gauge). If you don't see it displayed, ask about it. It's that kind if place.

You will pass the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo off Pearl Road, and it is a VERY nice place to take the family. Amazing collection of animals for the size of the city it serves. Their "Rainforest" building is fabulous.(Trust me on this one, too.).

I was born and lived my whole life in Cleveland until retiring to L.A. 5 years ago.

Sorry but, in my opinion basketball ended in the United States when Michael Jordan retired.
