Kevin, Welcome to the Forum!  Looks like you are well on your way with that attic layout!  I'm impressed your dad is still able and willing to work with you up there.  My dad is 88 and in good health.  Except for a minor setback last year he can still do a lot of things also.  He agreed to go to the personal care home with my mom because she needs to be there.  Dad would be fine living with us or my sister and doing a lot of the things he did, just at a slower pace.

Looks great, lots of track and places for the train to go.

Longer videos, please.  We want to see those baby's make their complete runs at least once.  There is a maximum of 100m for a direct attachment.  Normally, about 50 seconds.  Longer videos require youtube links.  If you need help on how to do it, the guys will be happy to oblige...

Jerry

Hi Jerry - I will definitely do that! Was so tired last night I didn't have it in me..

Nice!  Love those long runs.  Thanks for posting the cool videos.

What's the next project on the layout?

All 11 switches need to be wired up, as do the 7 UCS’s. Then putting down track bed and permanently affixing the track. Once that’s done, I’ll start trying to resuscitate my old accessories. But now at least I can enjoy the layout while I work on it.

Hi Ed,

wow, I forgot about this thread. Have made some progress in past few months. Here is a video of the layout from a few weeks ago. Still plugging away at it. Today added a walkover bridge from the parking lot to the station and planted some trees. Paint is drying as we speak. It’s a low budget (and low headroom) operation but I’m sure having fun!

Please share pics/videos of your trains as well, Ed. Would love to check it out.

Best,

kevin

The park is looking great, Kevin!  I like the over track pedestrian bridge to get to it.  A bench, and some people and a dog or two!  Build it and they will come!

Thanks, Mark. And my new theory is that everything looks better with ballast, and especially because I am lazy and cheap and am loving the ease of this rock enamel spray paint. It look me 15 minutes to mask the lake and spray the ballast on tonight. Might go for a darker color for the water - it looks a bit too much like a pool.

Yes, need benches, people and dogs - Onward!
