You are correct Charlie, of this Coca-Cola commercial being up there with the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial.

When and where I lived in Staten Island, N.Y., there was this Franzreb Stables who housed the winter Clydesdales, for the snowy winter scenes.

I forget where in California, but Cali. was where the summer Clydesdales where stabled, for the summer scenes.

Ralph

So is this an actual commercial or something for the FW or even his production company, LYNCHPIN CREATIVE?  Just curious if we'll see in the main stream.  Looks like it would play well before a movie at the theater.

I got a chance to work with Kelly this summer.  I was very impressed.  I am usually working behind the scenes technically and found a lot of the "creative types" to be a unprepared and difficult but Kelly was a pleasure to work with and knows his craft well.

Kelly did this on "spec" because he had the passion and the vision to do this. Executives at Coke have now seen it and have been very impressed. It's too long (2:30) for a network or cable TV spot so I'm not sure how Coke might use it, but they have shown some interest.

Kelly is a talented young man with his head on straight. He and I have worked together on a couple of small video projects. He handled the cameras and audio for me when I sat with Jack Wheelihan (Hot Water) and did the interview in GLA 8. Kelly is in the final stages of producing a documentary about the 765 and the Fort Wayne organization. I am looking forward to the release of that video.

Maybe it could be recut for TV airplay and the original played, as I said, before movies at the big movie multiplexes.

Regardless it it is an impressive piece for sure.

But I'd love to know where those folks are. I could make a killin' selling them coke.

Not to be a "rivet counter" here, but shouldn't those have been 8oz bottles? Those bottles looked larger, maybe its me.

Its fantastic! I agree with others on the superbowl ad if nothing else. Many of the superbowl commercials have to be watched till the end to find out what product is being advertised.

It sure beats a computer generated polar bear.

Thanks for posting it Rich!

They Look like the Mexican coke's made with Cane Sugar, much better then American coke IMO.  You can get them in 24 packs at Sam's club or BJ's.

Great Commercial!

That's one of the best ads I have ever seen.

Reminds me of my granddad sitting in the car while my grand mother did shopping. We would just sit there and talk. Across the way there was the Seaboard Coast Line. I would hear a train whistle and look at the freight trains go by while drinking a coke and trying to read all the names on the boxcars. I also learned trying to read boxcars going by at 55 to 65mph. Can make you real dizzy!

I liked the shot of 765 headlight. This ad is really great. I want to wish everybody here on the forum happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.

Nicely put together and some nice shots sadly it won't make Super Bowl ad without a remake for one reason. As far as I can see there isn't one minority in the entire ad. It's all about demographics and marketing groups now

And Kevin those are indeed Mexican Cokes, if you freeze the scene where the 4 of them are toasting you can see the Spanish words on the label. For the time being the Mexican cokes still have sugar, but it was announced last week they are going to corn syrup

I like the veiled reference to The Polar Express appearing outside the boy's window, the GREAT runby of 765, and the fireman with a Coke dissolving into the Coke engineer ad at the end. Lionel offered that ad as a billboard, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

I could be wrong but I vaguely recall seeing that ad on an "O" Gauge boxcar or maybe a reefer.

Mike if you really want to get picky you can see the Coke Bottle History and see which one was correct

I do remember seeing a history of Coke and Pepsi that talked about how Coca Cola was dedicated the 6 oz bottle while Pepsi marketed a larger bottle and used it to their advantage in their advertising (because they sure couldn't win on taste)
