  Would be nice if someone in O 3rail  would pick up on the Z1b engine and produce it.  Anyone else out there appreciate this engine? Do you think it will ever be done?

No, don't do it, please! I'd have to buy it, or at least really want it. Save me the pain.

 

The 2-6-6-2 wheel arrangement is probably my favorite articulated type; I like the

symmetry (as in USRA).

Also, they can be big enough to be Big, but small enough to be 1:48 and still look plausible on moderate-sized layouts.

 

I have no particular interest in the N&W, but I do like some of their motive power and

the fact that they were building -streamlined- steam as late as 1950.

 

So, a Z1 would definitely get on my radar. Drat! 

I'm not really a N&W man, but the Z1b is a good looking locomotive.  I agree with Patrick, if someone is likely to make it, it will probably be 3rd Rail.  I would think with all the N&W folks out there that the Z1b would be a good project for 3rd Rail after the Class M "Molllies".  To be honest, 3rd Rail's "Mollies" could almost make me a "N&W" guy!  It's tempting.  The Z1b might just take me over the edge!  Bo

3rd rail or MTH,  I'd be in for one.

Patrick, great looking engine. Is it two rail and who is the manufacture.

Also Sunset 3rd rail Y6B looks to me that it can compete on a detail basis + it has railsounds and synchronized smoke.

A friend of mine has one of the PSC N&W Z1b's.  I really like the model, but a little too pricey for me.  Now that we know that these engines ran on 4 different railroads, maybe Sunset might consider bringing them in.  

 

This will require many people contacting Sunset and letting them know that there is large interest in the model.

 

Remember; Sunset does not require a deposit with a reservation on a model.  But we have to let Sunset know that there is a large number of us who are very interested in this model.  It's all about numbers.

 Maybe after this year 3rd rail will consider it. I was thinking  more like the 13-1700 range,but I am only seeing who else liked it and get some more knowledge about it. It obviously sells well in 2 rail and HO.

I hope that you get this one.  Maybe at the same time the manufacturer could do a 2-6-6-4  Pittsburgh and West Virginia mallet.  I don't see a $2500 engine as a possibility,a new PRR T1,perhaps.  Try forwarding this to Scott Mann and starting a dialog.

He does respond to ideas and wants such as yours.  Heck,I might even go for one.
