Lionel painted the tender in the 1940 20th Century Ltd scheme. AFAIK only MTH and 3rd Rail have made similar streamline cars. MTH and K-Line have done similar colors in heavyweights. Lionel's upcoming Pacemaker cars should also match. Not sure anyones cars have the exact shades of gray though.

Since the release of the Niagara cars in this scheme have become very hard to find.

Another option is to find cars painted in the 1938 scheme. These are far more common but have blue stripes separating the grays instead of white. Then find some white pin striping tape to cover over the blue. Thats what the NYC did BTW. It should be easy to find in hobby shops as Lionel used fairly thick stripes on the Niagara.

Everyone has done 1938 Streamline cars including Lionel, MTH, 3rd Rail and K-Line.

In one of the last 2 Lionel catalogs they show 2 baggage cars and one with Railsounds.  They match perfectly.  I'm hoping they continue to add more cars.  The paint is perfect or close to it.  Hard with the Niagara because the gray is not as deep as a lot of samples out there.

I spoke to Mr. Kunkle at Lionel at the last York show.  I walked away with the impression that they were considering a 1940s set of passenger to match up with the Niagara.  We will see.  He may have said that to get me out of the booth.
