I have another engine that went dead sitting on the shelf. It's never been run since the day I got it, ran it and programmed it to TMCC Adr #22. It runs perfectly in Conventional with the base turned off, but  does not respond to the Cab 2. The lights turn on but no response from the engine. No sound, horn, etc. I was thinking that it must be getting TMCC when the base is on, otherwise it would take off when the 18 vac was turned on. Correct?

That's as far as I have gotten. Everything inside looks normal as far as that goes. Just looking for a little guidance on what to look for. The K Line manual is generic...no details on the engine.

I'm temped to sell this one and the Lionmaster for half the used price to someone who likes to fix things.

I did fine a no-solder joint. One motor started to run intermittently after I moved stuff and the motor wire for it was totally not ever soldered to the other wire pair. So that was worth finding.

I’m confused with the above finding. How did it run fine in conventional if there was a motor wire that wasn't ever soldered? How could it run in that case?

There were 4 wires supposed to be soldered together. 2 wires were soldered and the other 2 wires were soldered. The two bundles of 2 wires each were touching inside a short length of heat shrink tubing. When I moved the heat shrink joint, the two bundles separated. They were supposed to be all soldered together, but obviously they were not. Maybe they were lightly sticking together, but the joint was not strong enough to manage moving them.

It still runs fine in conventional...again. I again tried another radio board, but it still would not program, etc. with the base turned on.
