Offsetting the Cupola on an MTH PRR N6b

I converted an MTH N6b (the one with the moving guy on the back) to an offset version.  After procrastinating finishing it, I finally got the nerve to do the decals.

Flipped the cut piece around to accomplish the offset:

Sanded expoxy joint (you can see the clear epoxy joint most clearly on the right side in this picture, the seam runs between the two vertically aligned holes) :

Gloss to hold the decals (it's a tad too red, it's scalecoat II oxide red rattle can, should have used prr freight car color I guess, but this is as good as I am going to do on this):

The MTH version is not wrong. Weaver models made all versions in Brass of the N6. There were Offset and centered cupolas as well as a Lines East [slanted inward cupola] and a Lines West version [Overhang vertical sides]

Very Nice Job!   I did a Pennsy N8 in HO Scale using 2 Tyco Caboose bodies many years ago.  Took second place at the PRRT&HS convention that year (I just don't remember witch year).   I'm familiar with "Cut and Fill" and you sir, did a fine job indeed!

 Really Nice job. I’ve done a few Boston & Albany conversions. Your removing the cupola and filling the hole with styrene. Your right as there is a lot of sanding , filling and smoothing. Often times. Adding a tar paper roof or some heavy weathering can hide a lot. In the end you end up with a more prototypical model you made yourself rather than waiting for manufacturer to make it for you. Very gratifying when it’s finished and up and running.
