Lets keep it on the simple side. How about a semi-scale powered Track Inspection unit? There are a lot of possibilities. In the past boxcars and Beeps where offered. Personally I thought they were over priced or the conditions to buy one over-the-top. One example was: You had to take the tour of the Weaver Factory. Plus you had to take the chartered coach from some location to the factory, eat a catered lunch just to be able to purchase the car. None of this is free mind you. Then you pay $60.00 plus for the car. By the time you factor in all the expenses you have one very expensive piece of rolling stock. If you wanted the Beep you had better dig very deep.

If OGR Magazine & Reader Forum were to do a car now, I'm afraid the cost would be so high that most of us would have to pass. Perhaps the folks that dug deep for the new BB would like a few behind their new locomotive. I shutter at the thought of what an engine would cost.

Many showed interest in OGR Polo or T-Shirts, even OGR hats were mentioned. The answer has always been, "It Ain't Going To Happen". When forum members are met with that answer and the general attitude that goes with it, we give up and lose any sense of pride we started with. I've tried to keep it clean and non-abusive. I hope others will do the same.

Like anything else, if OGR can satisfy the minimum run and cut them a check they'd make it.  OGR could only do that if they could get enough orders.  Like everything else, many people would say they'd buy one but in the end probably 50% of those would actually put down the money.

That's why being in the train business is so whacky.  Everybody says they want one until it's made.

Marty,

For once I agree with you (LOL) kinda. Truthfully now, you know that it will never happen?

MartyE,

You are absolutely correct, the only way it would happen is if Rich collected the money up front from the OGR members then placed the order, a lot of work for Rich and his gang for minimal profit.   However the payback could come at the train shows, with Andy and the guys running a massive Box Car consist of all OGR fancy Box Cars, painted up real nice, for the people to see at the train shows, I could see this going over big time at Kennywood.   Rich just might expand his OGR magazine sales advertising in this manner, to a new generation of train show kids.

I recall a very long and involved thread about a Natty Bo car on here.

I joined the forum a bit late to get in on  the order, I was on the waiting list but no one cancelled.

And I still have not been able to get one.

The price they get on the auction site is ridiculous. Not that it's too high for such a rare item but I just can't go there.

Now, I wonder if Rich can go on that method for an OGR car. Atlas min is 200 cars, MTH is a bit more I believe.

I would go $75 for a Scale Engineering car with the OGR logo on it. More than that I'd have to think about. A Railking car I'd go $50 for.

I agree on pricing and I also agree that a scale car would be best but either way I think it would be a great way to support the forum and also a great way to meet people at events.  What I mean by that is if you were to run your OGR car as part of a consist at a meet or show, it would be a great ice breaker.  If I were to have an OGR car I would add either my OGR member name, my home RR name or both.
