I have a Lionel Legacy SW-7 that I have allowed to sit on a shelf for over a year because of family health issues, retiring, general procrastination, etc. It is now out of warranty, but if I am going to keep it, I need to get work done it. I understand that Lionel itself does not do out of warranty repair work anymore, but there are private individuals and small companies that do. Can I get some suggestions from the readership on who to send this engine too? Thanks in advance.

Alex M here on the forum is another reputable repair person. There are others that may chime in.
IMO given the staff cuts and backlog at Lionel you are better off anyhow.
There are MTH and Lionel Authorized Technicians who are members of this Forum that can help you, if available. I believe some are very busy these days, especially doing work on MTH trains because of MTH soon going out of business. Arnold

You called it. I've got stacks of MTH trains in the last 3 months for repair. Normally summer is slower, but not this year.

It took two months to get my Big Boy back from The Train Shack in Burbank...
This engine has sat on a shelf for quite a while now, so I'm not in that big of a hurry.
Still working through a huge stack of repairs, it seems everyone stayed home and broke their trains! 
I've had to start turning away work until I can get the pile under control. On the good news front, MTH shipped a bunch of boards I've been waiting on for many months, so that pile is going to shrink at last. It's crazy out there.
What repairs need to be done?
