Hi Everybody--

For those of you interested in operating your trains OUTDOORS especially when the weather isn't so great, there was an article years ago about a guy named "George Lake" who built an outdoor 2-rail O-scale layout on his property.  It is very interesting and quite descriptive.

The article appeared in the APRIL-1951 Model Railroader magazine !

Topics included:

Model Railroader, April, 1951

Terrific vintage magazine, full of interesting articles and projects.

Articles include:
  • Railroading Outdoors, by George W. Lake
  • Building an O Gauge 0-4-0 Switcher, by Mel Thornburgh
  • Building the Little SP, by Larry Wahl

The ATTACHED photo shows the magazine cover for this issue.  Note the guy on the cover pouring water from the kettle into the boiler of his locomotive.  Neat, huh ?  He just happens to be my GRANDPA !!

Cheers.
