John,

I believe I did. I'm using the DCS for power, but running The Lion Chief Engine. I tried fixed and variable at 18V. Pressed the bell button both ways. I wouldn't expect DCS signal to interfere, but that's because I don't truly understand. LC may be what is messing me up. It may help me choose which set to keep and which to sell. I was hoping to keep the LC features and have the conductor response from the DCS handheld

Marty,  Which items are these?  Is it LC or LC+?  I don't see how you can run an LC engine with DCS remote?  You can apply power via a TIU channel to the track, but the LC Remote controls the engine.

If this is a conventional activated car, do you have the red/black wires connected correctly to the track from the output of the TIU, what is your input source?  G

Do you have the conventional conductor announcement car? 6-36875

You won't get the announcement on a LionChief as it requires the LionChief remote to activate the sounds. Different signal than the usual bell signal the above coach uses.

The coach above was for the conventional set and only had "All aboard, this is the Polar Express".

The LionChief has a second "tickets please" when moving. Requires the LC remote.

To add to the replies, if running the traditional sized conductor car w/ the original conventionally controlled Polar Exp loco w/ the DCS remote, you can trigger the "all aboard... This is the Polar Express" announcement by selecting the respective TR(ack) voltage screen, then press the Whistle/Horn button.  I don't believe the dc pulse for W/H is sent when the DCS screen is in the engine/loco screen.

OK... anyone that needs to feel smarter than someone this Christmas, bookmark this thread and maybe I will rename it dumbest guy on the forum. I must have turned off the announcements, when I was running conventional 2 years ago. I never turned it over to look for a switch....

It works like a charm. 18V on the conventional loop. Run the train with LC and hit the bell on the dcs handheld. I might have to go back to a transformer and 1 train...

Moonman,  was just gonna post that! I was showing my wife that I thought one said Tickets (but didn't), when I pushed the button and it did. I do have the tender. Anyway. I like like him hanging out the door. I think the next Nephew or Niece to be ready for trains is getting the conventional PE set. I'm going to keep the LC one.

This should end the topic aside from any ribbing.
