Polar Railroad GP Engineer Figure

Has anyone taken apart a legacy GP9 to repair a loose engineer figure? I’ve got the Polar Railroad version 6-38430 and one of the figures is now upside down.
I removed the shell but don’t see a way to get into the cab portion.
Lionel parts list doesn’t show the figures at all.
Any tips on how to reach and reglue the figures?
