I'm restoring a Lionel postwar 2360 GG1 (version A) for my brother. I'm about to install all new motor and E-unit wiring. Even though the wires on the E-unit are still electrically sound, they are brittle so I'm going to replace them while servicing the unit. The original wires are color coded, 1 green, 2 yellow, one black (see photo) which I'll replace with like colors. The motors were stripped of wires when I received them so my question is, were the motor wires color coded also? The wiring diagram in my Greenberg's manual (as with most of the wiring diagrams), does not show wire colors. Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to keep all the wires as they were originally.

- and I agree with you, but when I was attempting to use the OEM cloth-style insulated wires and trying to keep the wire-paths tight & clean like the factory folks did way back when I struggled a bit. My 20 yr old hands were rock steady... My 58 year old hands, not so much.

The shortcuts I took were things like... wiring the pickups/rollers/couplers with a little extra 'wire-tail' length first and pulling those wires up and into the chassis/frame - then I worked on the e-unit and light bulbs also with extra tail length - while still trying to be clean/neat and trim the wires to tidy lengths I will finally mount the motor(s) and wire them up. After track-testing for proper operation I might add a tiny baggie-tie or zip-tie if any wires get in the way of the shell.
