Thanks for posting those photos. That Super 381 is a tight fit under the canopy! I think that rules out the double dome setup for the museum layout, but we might still be able to put a glass dome on the inner loop and leave the outer free for the Super 381 and other "Super" size equipment. 

Do you know if a Boucher Pacific will fit under an unmodified dome? We run one of those pretty often at the museum and it has to run on the loop that would get the dome, because the other loop has MTH switches.

Late update - I got the word on the Boucher Pacific. It is over 7" tall so it definitely would not fit under the Ives canopy unless the canopy was mounted on pedestals. 

As a quick fix, I have seen painted wooden spools used to lengthen the pillars and raise the canopy/dome.
