Do not push them, bad things happen when someone or something is pushed.  let us let them do it right. I am being told by my friends at AGHR it is a great WiFi system. I believe them. The WiFi system is curing a lot of old bugs. Engines are responding like never before. 

This is a a big advancement in the Command control market. I think the IT guys like Barry and others need the time to get it right and make the Command control system a good investment we all bought into to.

 

If it fails then we can call the Donald. 

I was waiting for the pro app to buy the wifi box. I can't wait any longer. I need to try the wifi and see if it cures the dreaded "engine not on track" messages I'm sometimes getting when the engine is right there in front of me. I have a computer program that finds the engines better than the remote sometimes does. At least it helps me troubleshoot issues. I seem to have many different issues popping up again this year.

I need the pro app because I run such large consists outside. The computer might be awkward to use when I can't see the trains. I think running by a phone or pad, might be better. Maybe I won't be able to see the controls outside???? It gets painful waiting for things sometimes. 

 I waited four years for an engine to be made and when it finally arrived the speed was way off. I had to fix that myself. I can't do that with computers. I'm not that good! So I'll go back to the back of the line.................grumbling.

The $5.00 version works well. The pro version handles the multiple TIU situation (I'm hoping it will allow 4-digit engine addressing) which we require at the club. In my testing at home it found the engines nicely. When we were testing at the club, the range was very good, but we do have a WiFi router installed in the middle of the layout. In a home context, I would connected to the home router for improved range, especially in your case since your trains go out into the back yard.

Well this is embarrassing again. I got the WIFI and it didn't work. Before going crazy I tried the remote and that did not work either?

So I did some troubleshooting. There was a solid set of wires from the transformer to the TIU. The black wire had snapped off at the lug but was still in place. It probably broke when I was installing the WIFI and moving the TIU. This was a quick fix when I moved the system outside and gained a third TIU. I normally use all stranded wire. When I moved the TIU one more time to inspect the wiring, the black wire culprit dropped out.

 So now I'm a big fan of this WIFI for how well it works. It's just tougher for us dinosaurs that don't use smart phones. The quick start guide didn't mention clearly for me, where to enter the password. It's in the smart phone device and spelled out in the WIFI manual online at MTH. I kept searching in the app. After the third or fourth look, it finally hit me. Now to find how to work the smoking variable whistle.
