The previous two threads I posted in the last few days showed pictures of a couple of new highrises in the downtown area....so....I thought I would post some pictures of a little progress I have been making as far as scenes and details.  I still have far to go compared to a lot of you but I am still trying to stay on "track" so to speak!  Hope you enjoy and thanks for taking the time to look and comment....

Alan, I didn't notice one any Plasticville building, nor any RMT S-4's or not one single Lionel animated Giraffe car- and yet, you've pulled it off! All the more amazing with not one section of 027 track!!

All kidding aside, that is spectacular. If your layout was on public display, that would certainly impress any viewer. I've seen public layouts that were nowhere near as impressive as yours.

I was in the print media business for many years. We saw sales reps come and go. But then one would come aboard who did what no one else could do, and brought in clients no one else seemed to be able to get.

Even without seeing your layout, I think most folks on the forum recognize your talent with the vast increase in forum supporters (advertisers).

If they gave out Oscars for enterTRAINment, you'd have two on your mantle.

Strike that! I just realized that original posts do not have the like.

Dennis, original posts have a "like this topic" button located to the right of first posting, in the grey area.  You will see photos of other members that also liked the topic.

Alan,

More great scenes!  I am reminded of something I was going to mention about the new magazine article building.  I like seeing the growth that OGR and AmeriTown have enjoyed seeing they are now located on the ground floor of this big city building.  I have been through Poland, Ohio many times on US Route 224, passing Sheridan Road.  So one time I drove over to the OGR building.  It was after hours, so I just swung through the parking lot and went on my way.

I'm glad to see the optimism of OGR staff!  ;-)

Brian...thanks so much for the very nice compliment.  To be honest, it takes  advertisers who understand how valuable our membership here is to their market....OGR has been blessed with those kind of advertisers!.  It goes both ways though so without readers/members no one benefits.  I have been very lucky to have both sides of this equation respond in a positive way...  As far as the layout, it is a passion for me!!

Thanks Brian...  As you know, I like the "Empire" colors too!  I could not pass on the great prices a fine forum member and shop owner/advertiser had on these a few months ago.  Once I got them, I fell in love!!  They look great mixed in with the rest of the train.  Now I wish Lionel would have made an entire set....

Thanks Jim.  I did a little research on what color Pat used and it is as close to Apple Green as you can get.  I didn't like the color at first because by itself, it looked too bright.  I was going to repaint...but I put a few up in the scene and somehow the color seemed OK...I even asked others and I got positive responses so I left the color alone.  I think some weathering would tone it down a little but hey...I could always say that maintenance crews just painted them!!

Hi Alan • Are you ever going to make a You Tube video or any kind of video, so we can see all the action in motion.? Plus you could tell your layout story.

If you go with You Tube, you will have a world wide audience and meet model railroaders from all around the world.

To get up and running, ask Eric's Trains to put your YT link in his next video description and he would help you by promoting your new channel. I am a small channel but I would promote your channel and so would several other YT channels from the Forum. It just take time to build a YT channel. You have the personality and layout to be successful.

The world of Model Railroading needs to see your Skyscrapers.

Good Luck

Gary

John...thanks!  I found the crane at the April York meet this year.  It was in the Silver Hall..??  Anyway, it is a toy crane that was battery powered but looked pretty good from a distance.  Someone had used it on their layout before I got it and had painted and lettered it for CSX.  I repainted it yellow and then mounted it on the girder and panel beams you see in the picture....

Gary....thanks for the request and suggestion about doing a video.  I did a series of what were really slide videos of the layout and posted them here on the forum....I think you saw those.  I have been considering a "real" video for some time but honestly don't think the layout is ready yet.  Perhaps I should re-think it.  Their are a couple of videos on Youtube that "MOPAC" here on the forum posted when he visited several years ago.  You might be able to find them....

Thanks,

Alan
