Has anyone used the MTH reprogramming chipset for the Protosound boards?

I have one and would like to use it to try to reset one of those board systems, but have never used it.

Any problems with using them?

Also, the board is missing the "slider switch" ... will bridging the two contacts on it do the same as the slider?

I did a couple of searches on the reset chip, but came up empty ... like they don't exist.

When I went to the first of six MTH schools, we were issued a set of 4 chips.  Later in time, MTH sold the Make PS chip available to the public to take care of the 3 clanks of death.  I have several of those and use them often.  The other chips are for specific applications.   Do not use the Make PS chip for anything other than what it was designed for.

The reset switch that is available to the unwashed public is only for one specific issue, the three clanks when starting up.  If you have some other symptom, that's not what you need.

It's the 3-clanks at start up problem.  The QS-3000 manual says the slider switch is necessary for resetting; the little slider is missing on this locomotive so we tried bridging it with a bend paperclip, and followed the instructions.  Resetting it that way didn't work, and it seems like the reprogramming chip is the way to resolve it.  I did locate my reprogramming chip, so we can try that approach.  Where does one find a replacement slider switch?
