PS2-PS3 MU Diesel Cabling Compatibility? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hey MTH Gurus,

In the latest MTH catalog, I was pleased to see that Mike and Andy had listened long enough to me whine about not selling add-on unpowered B-units to go with new or existing A-B-A diesel sets. There are unpowered B units for separate sale in the newest catalog for which I've been waiting a long time!

This may not be a DCS question per se, but I'm sure you guys will know the answer....as I was preparing to order some of these newly offered B units, it suddenly occurred to me that I'm not sure if their DCS cabling and connectors which carry PS/DCS signals from the master A unit to the slave A unit are compatible with both PS3 and PS2. Before I shell out roughly $200 apiece for these B units, some of which will be run with PS2 A-B-A sets, I want to know for sure if they'll be compatible with the PS3 wiring coming out of my new unpowered B units.

Appreciate any help you can give me so I can place my order with the dealer now.

Hi Bear,

You should be good to go. The PS3 A-B-A sets still use the same 10-pin wire harnesses as the PS2's. AFAIK, all the cables are straight through wired.
