Question about new Lionel J1a (Not about the whistle) | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all,

On my Milwaukee Road S3 from a few years back the cylinder steam effect goes off whenever you press the blowdown sound effect button, but on the new J1 the steam only blows after the engine has been sitting for a while. Is there a way to manually trigger the effect on the J1? I know this operation is more prototypical per say, but if I was in this hobby to be realistic I wouldn't have three rails rolleyes .
