Hello everyone,

I have a painted/decorated Atlas GP9 that I want to remove the grabs from to repaint.  Is there a special technique to do this? I searched here and on google and came up empty handed.  Considered just ordering new grabs from atlas, but they don't seem to be available.  I thought I would ask before I mix it up with the needlenose pliers and potentially ruin something.

Thank you,

Not a whole lot different than the GP7.  This undecorated unit required the grab irons to be install, one of the last things I did.  I'd try removing them with your fingers first.

The grab irons were pretty stiff wire, the only thing, would be marking the existing paint that is on them.
Before painting the grab irons.

The fan assemblies and the Dynamic Brake Blister also comes off.

Lower left corner of this picture is the non-dynamic brake piece.

Parts.

Thanks for the tips guys, I will be trying them out soon.  I know the handrails come off readily, they were partially loose the first time I removed the engine from the box.  Also, luckily one of the parts that Atlas did have was the non-dynamic roof section as my road doesn't utilize dynamic brakes.
