Has anyone tried to remove an existing waterslide decal from a tinplate passenger car .   Specifically I would like to remove a MTH Lines decal and replace it with a Lionel Lines decal.   The Lionel Lines decals are readily available to buy .    In the late 1990s MTH placed their name on the side of standard gauge passenger cars ,  instead of Lionel Lines .       If this is not a good idea to try , let me know. !       I own 15 or so MTH engines, so I do like their O and standard gauge lines a lot.

I’ve never done those particular cars. As long as a clear coat wasn’t applied over it. Something as simple as Scotch tape may work. Just apply it over the decal. Rub it in a bit and try lifting off.

Solvaset or Micro Sol should also soften it up enough that you can remove it. You can try putting some on a piece of paper towel the size of the decal. The soaked towel just setting on top of the decal for about 10 minutes may be enough to clean it off with a Q Tip or soft brush.
