I got this shell pretty cheap and order the apron repair part from Jeff  @The Train Tender. I clamped the ends with clamps and used super glue .

I did not want to shave off any of the insides to keep it strong

I test fitted it for me the shell did not slide in the apron well So I shaved off what I thought  was necessary

JB welded the body ,sanded and painted..

even though it does not look original no mater what was done this still to me makes a decent modification  as to

what can be done ...   daniel

I brought it home..... its goes with my orbiter set...

in case anybody asks I used Santa fe red for the match! it was

glossy but a wet sand and  polish got it pretty close to the original red

I got the part from Jeff from The Train Tender it was cheaper to buy them in bulk!

Ill probably  find more projects...lol.....daniel

Hey @DanssuperO I have the exact same shell with the exact same issue, and I have the exact same 204-RP replacement plastic pilot for Alco from the same exact Train Tender. Mine has a large, round weight riveted to the back door on the shell. So what color (and manufacturer) of the Red Paint did you get to match  yours so well?

George
