Dave they come regularly over ebay and other websites, we found our models in England

also checking pics about O scale 2 rail show (indianapolis cleveland) I have seen some on the stands, with Jean I found 4 motorized and 2 kits sometimes on ebay you could find the motorizing kit for the AHM

for 59$ to make a 2-8-0

and we are studying for 0-10-0

Chris,

Very, very cool.  I normally don't consider plastic (not a brass snob, just like working with brass) when building a loco but, after looking at what you've accomplished, I really have to rethink my position.

Are those original gearboxes?  Are they adequate for the task?  Just curious because they never really had a great reputation.

Please keep us updated on your endeavors.

Well Jay for the Gears we have no problems, one original IHB is running since 18 years now on the layout without problems !

About brass some models have sameand others problems,  for me i'm looking for something realistic so all my models have been painted weathered at the end it's difficult to  make the difference also I used many brass parts for detailing from PSC so we can say it's a brass plastic model

Great work!  I really like the detail of the backheads.  Back in the late 70s There was an article in either  O Scale Railroading or O Scale News about kitbashing these kits.  They made a Pacific type by combining the IHB kit with the motorizing kit from the Casey Jones.  I'm working on a 2-8-0 conversion now.  I replaced the tiny HO sized motor with a bigger can motor, which seems to work okay.

Cristophe,

Thank you for resurrecting these old Rivarossi kits and turning them into incredible and highly realistic engines. These kits have been neglected by a lot of modellers, but they offer in fact a good platform to start inexpensively modelling in O scale.

I know I did, and my first model was the famous 0-8-0 with a DCC decoder controlling a Sagami motor and lights. Later on I moved to Brass (when I could afford it) but these kits remain dear in my heart and will allow creative modellers to replicate pretty much anything.

Congratulations on your two beautiful models.

Yves
