Robert (Bob) Weaver Passes

A man who made some excellent trains. Glad to say I own at least one. God bless him.

Very sorry to read this. He is the reason I became a HiRailer. I have a lot of his cars,  and several of his engines. I still buy them. Quality in the name says it all.

Keep the rails polished, RIP Bob.

Bought the Weaver LV Black Diamond loco, the LV VO-1000 diesel and others. My first scale box cars were Weaver LV 40-footers. The closing of his company left a void in our hobby. His death brings closure to the whole package. Mark

I never met Bob Weaver but I own quite a few of his products and they never will be for sale. I admire them every day as I pass by my train cabinet - the New Haven I-4, I-5 and Boston & Maine #3713. My condolences to his family and friends.

Meeting Bob Weaver and having the opportunity to shoot video of his layout was one of the high points of my career with OGR. My condolences to the family.

His contributions to the hobby will be felt as long as there is an O gauge hobby.

My condolences to the family. Before I got back in O scale, I had one of his modern tank cars on display on a shelf in my house. It was such a well-done piece. Now, I’m slowly acquiring Weaver cars as my layout expands.

So sorry to read this. I can remember talking to him and his wife several years ago at York. I couldn't get his scale freight cars out of my mind when I first saw them. Once I figured out a way to replace his trucks with MPC trucks I bought a assortment of his freight cars. Some of my friends would put them together for me on Friday evenings. "A long time ago."

My small 2 rail layout would not exist without weaver products.  Condolences to the family.

3713. Yes, one of the P-4 Pacifics. A Weaver loco that I let slip away, and now I can't find one. I have loved the P-4 since it showed up in HO from Athearn in 1960 or so. I couldn't afford it then (nearly $20!), but I do have one on a shelf now that I got off eBay a few years ago. $40 - actually much cheaper than when new.

There will never be any more Weaver locomotives. And I failed to jump on the 3RO P-4. Stoopid.

Weaver is a household name for many O-gaugers here in Pennsylvania...a proud tradition to be sure. My condolences to Bob's family and friends.

I remember his 2-rail layout - fantastic.

Condolences to the Weaver family, & Bob's "family" of former Weaver employees in Northumberland, PA.  I had the pleasure of taking part in several of OGR-sponsored tours at the Weaver facility  (I believe it was after Bob's successor, Joe Hayter had taken over.)  Although it was a comparably small factory, each visit was a thrill to me ... & an honor to see O gauge train cars, & some diesel locos, being produced in the USA.   

This is sad news, but the video of his running a train on his large layout with 100 cars, If I remember correctly was fun to watch. Thanks for letting us know of his passing, he was an ambassador of this great hobby. May God Bless his family.

I met Bob only once, at an ELHS dinner at the Susquehanna, PA Railroad Station/Hotel.

I won a door prize, a DL&W hopper. I still have it along with several Weaver brass locomotives, and more.

Thank you Bob, for your many contributions to our hobby.

The OGR bus trip to the Weaver factory and Bob’s layout are a highlight of this hobby for me.

My condolences to his family. Never had anything but great dealings with Weaver, both with Bob and then Joe. I am fortunate to have some his art deco steam engines in my collection. Back from the day when Weaver made the engines and MTH made the matching passenger cars.

And so sadly another page turns in the O Gauge history book. I never had a chnce to meet Bob personally but his company and his line of O scale products have provided unmeasured satisfaction to many, at a very affordable price point. I have quite a bit of Weaver rolling stock and several engines. One of my favorites is the CP Empress #2816. May he rest in peace.
