Finally testing the smoke units in all of my steam locomotives, and making modifications where necessary.

With a Lionel Lionmaster PRR Duplex from 2002 (6-38020), it smokes great, but only in reverse.  In forward, nothing.  Any suggestions before I open it up?

 Thanks,

George

I have discovered that the fan motor only runs when the locomotive is in reverse and stops when in forward.  Smoke is in fact being generated within the smoke unit, but is only visible in reverse when the fan is running.  So, it appears to be a wiring problem to the smoke unit.

Mike, how in the world would we know that!   I'm glad someone is around to answer those questions, I was waiting to see what the resolution was.

Why would a programming option only run smoke in reverse?  Is there an option to task the smoke output to some other function?
