Smokes in reverse

I have discovered that the fan motor only runs when the locomotive is in reverse and stops when in forward.  Smoke is in fact being generated within the smoke unit, but is only visible in reverse when the fan is running.  So, it appears to be a wiring problem to the smoke unit.

Reprogram the loco using auxiliary code 74. The smoke will work in both directions. The fan motor wiring makes no difference, until the inlet hole is enlarged. Thanks, Mike

Reprogramed as you suggested with auxilliary code 74, and the locomotive smokes as it should.  I have been modifying the smoke units in my steam locomotives as you demonstrate in your videos.  Really great improvement in output.

Mike, how in the world would we know that!   I'm glad someone is around to answer those questions, I was waiting to see what the resolution was.

 

Why would a programming option only run smoke in reverse?  Is there an option to task the smoke output to some other function?

How cool is that! What an easy fix! "Mikey can fix anything" even a ten year old loco!
