Think Lionel or MTH might make a boring machine?
Funny thing about these boring machines. When the MTA extended the 7 train to the Javits center they abondoned the boring machine at the end of the tunnel. Too expensive to remove it. That is the reason Bloomberg proposed the extension to New Jersey. The machine was there. The extension would be easy and they could recover the machine in open air on New Jersey side.
The MTA also abandoned a boring machine at Grand Central when they extended the LIRR from the 63 st tunnel.
Maybe one of these centuries NY will consider Staten Island a real part of NY and dig a tunnel from the 4th ave line in Brooklyn to SI
