Hey folks! I have experienced a similar issue with a lot of newer Lionel engines where the speaker will sound fuzzy or scratchy on certain pitches. Here is a video on Larry's layout to demonstrate. During the crew talk sequence, when the first guy speaks, you can hear a scratchy sound on some of his words. The second person's voice seems to come through clearer. On other steam engines, it can be certain whistle pitches that makes the scratchy sound. I'm looking to know if this is something that I can fix myself, or if the speaker is bad and needs replacing. Thanks!

Lots of new Lionel products do that, is that engine Bluetooth equipped?  If so you can lower the individual sounds of whistle, bell, crew talk, prime mover.  I'd suggest lowering crew talk.  I usually put some foam or sound insulation in speaker Chamber to quiet that vibration. I think your speaker is fine,  Lionel makes everything so loud these days it vibrates shell or metal side venting
