My wife is half way on board with the trains, she just is not happy I took over the garage. Now if I started building for other people then I might rock the boat. 

I am sending you the 85' Chimney already printed out.  It's a Freebie on the Clever models website.  I put some extra paper and vellum in there too so you can see what I am using.  If you are not going to put LEDs in the structure then you really don't need to use the Vellum for the windows.

Ted.....you are doing a fine job with your "budget" techniques.  One of the things I enjoy about your posts is that it is very easy to tell that you are having a great time and are excited about the hobby....it is very catching!! 

Bill....that ABBA shop that Alan is building is incredible...as are all of his creations.  Wish I had at least one of his masterpieces...perhaps you guys would take up a collection for me?? LOL!

OK...here is another one to look at.  This is a picture of a scene my friend Mickey is working on.  His layout is two rail O-scale and fortunately for me is right next door!!

I never worked with card stock buildings. From the pictures you took I am impressed. I would think if you are doing a large city scene, this would be a very ecconomical way to do it.

You told me a week or so ago that you all were working on Mickey's layout....but I had no idea that you were this far along. It really looks great.

Thanks Roger....wait till you see the industrial area I built for him as you enter the room.  We erected a 13 foot view block and then through the use of photos and flats I built an entire industrial area.  Mickey installed four sidings to service the industries.  On the opposite side is a town that has four intersections and a trolley line that has LIVE trolley catenary....the trolleys operate from the overhead live wire.  Mickey built the catenary system from scratch....

Thanks Al,

It is a learning process.  I am finding out the the detail parts need to be super glued, the 3m 77 is good for laminating the big parts to the foam core but the overlay pieces need to be fastened down tight.  High humidity affects the detail pieces and 77.  My first plan was to make these as place holders till I could slowly afford and have time to build some of the plastic models which I will do at some point, but for now this is working out pretty good. 

Now that I understand the textures/graphics better I plan on taking lots of pictures when I m in Chicago in May so I can come up with more variations for buildings.  The kits and pre-builts all come in very typical and standard dimensions, the foam core card stock technique allows some interesting flexibility.
